Message from Wayne County Chairman Quinn

Every now and then we all make mistakes.  Some mistakes are of course bigger than others.  Mistakes are those things that an eraser can clean up.  Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) made a huge error of respect saying to the President of the United States in a Joint Session of Congress "You Liar".

Even though Congressman Wilson may not now or ever in the future respect the current president, he none the less should respect the position of the President and the Congress of the United States.

The fact that Wilson is himself a member and officer of the South Carolina National Guard compounds the error to the level of insubordination of the Commander-in-Chief.  Further compounding this error is the fact that he has shown minimal sorrow and has in fact bragged about his remarks.

The people of South Carolina may be proud of such behavior as exhibited by Congressman Wilson, but I would hope that in North Carolina, our people still respect the office even if we do not care for the officeholder.
